Toronto Raptors point guard Fred VanVleet will not play on Saturday against the Boston Celtics because of right rib soreness, the team announced.
It will mark the ninth game VanVleet misses this year because of injury or illness.
VanVleet played 36 minutes on Thursday in a loss to Minnesota.
An All-Star last season, VanVleet’s numbers are down this year. He is averaging 18.9 points on 38.7 per cent shooting from the field, to go along with 6.4 assists and 4.3 rebounds.
The Celtics also are missing a key player in leading scorer Jayson Tatum (wrist).
